The annual congress of the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG) took place in Istanbul from May 6 to 11. Dominique Jean and Chrystine Maltais were among the 2320 participants, 8 of whom were Canadian.

The FIG brings together 120 member countries to discuss the evolution of the surveying profession and its related fields. The goal of this congress is to ensure that it responds well to the needs of the market, society, the environment and the economy.

Taking part in some of the 400 conferences on offer helped us to thoroughly understand the different land needs around the world and learn from experiences in different countries and contexts. With such a small number of participants from Quebec, it is difficult to promote our expertise, especially when it comes to cadastral reform. That being said, we were happy to contribute.
